MOTHER NATURE WANTS TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED

So, now that I have your attention…. Let’s think about this for a minute.

It’s spring here now, and the other day, as I returned to the studio from an appointment with a client, I noticed that I had almost missed the blooming of the dogwood. I’d spent too many years during my career in the corporate world not noticing. Not noticing everything. There is no going back – we say that and, in theory, we know that, and yet every day of our lives we behave as though that weren’t true. I realized I missed the early days – the fall of 2002 – when JD Milazzo and I had nothing to do but drink coffee, watch old movies, and leave every nyght to create images. By current standards, few of those photos are worth remembering today. Well, not in terms of “quality” images. Sometimes I am even appalled to think I once thought those images good enough to show anyone. But when I look at them, I also know – I also feel – that I was alive when each and everyone of those images was created, for the first time in my life.

Spring will be gone soon. Please don’t wait. Carpe diem. Carpe momentum.
